This has been a year of doing things over again for me, at least in the pumpkin carving part. It has been a very long time since I last tried carving a pumpkin with a howling wolf in it, but with the lino cutters and after starring at the lovely howling wolf pumpkins on the internet, I decided that I would conquer my uncertainties and carve myself an awesome wolf pumpkin.
The glow behind the wolf is achieved with peeling away the skin of the pumpkin away from the pumpkin and hollowing out the inner part of the pumpkin. I used a paint scrapper for that part and a fine blade for the wolf and details. For those who want to use lino cutters, a word of caution: they are sharp! Do not cut towards yourself and keep your hands dry when carving.
I also carved a moon in the back, so there would be a shioluette effect on the wall behind the pumpkin, showing a cresent moon. So in a sense, the wolf is howling at the moon.
